IUCN Red-list training

The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ is recognised world-wide as the gold standard for assessing the extinction risk of species and is widely utilised by governments to inform conservation priority setting and allocation of resources for biodiversity protection.
In Australia, the Red List categories and criteria form the basis of the Common Assessment Method (CAM) used for listing species under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
Ecosure staff have years of experience facilitating Red List training and assessment workshops in eight countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including:
- Multi-day in-person or remote workshops to provide participants with the skills to undertake Red List/EPBC Act assessments
- Short in person or remote workshops to provide participants with a general understanding of the Red List categories and criteria/CAM
- Multi-day training/assessment workshops to facilitate preparation of national Red List assessments.
Agendas and training materials are based on those developed by the IUCN Red List Unit, however are fully customisable depending on your needs. Ecosure has recently delivered Red List training workshops for clients including the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (Commonwealth), the ACT government Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate, and the governments of Bangladesh, the Maldives, and Hong Kong. We are currently working with IUCN Asia to provide technical assistance for the development of a Maldives National Red List.
