Ecosure’s Rockhampton staff and family members participated in the ‘Great Northern Clean Up’ last month. 10 staff and their families participated on the day collecting marine debris and rubbish along 10 km of Farnborough beach between Sandy Point and Bangalee (located north of Yeppoon).

The Great Northern Clean Up is the equivalent of ‘Clean up Australia Day, but takes place in September when the weather in the tropics is more suitable for outside work.
The team were eager to do their bit to minimise the impacts this debris can have in the coastal and marine environments, and expand on the great environmental outcomes of their recently completed weed management projects in the area. They collected over 3 ute-loads of rubbish along the beach frontage. Some interesting finds included:
- life vests,
- an intact light bulb,
- 2 way radios, and
- strange bottles from far-away places like Thailand.
It was a great day enjoyed by all, and is sure to become an annual event on the Ecosure calendar.
