When Nicole Hughes, Ecosure Financial Officer, gave one and a half years (!) notice for a 7 week trip to Europe, it seemed such a long way off. For the next year and a half we heard a lot about Nicole’s plans and her mounting excitement for this family trip of a lifetime, and we grew increasingly excited for her! Before we knew it more than a year had passed and we were having to find ways to manage without Nicole during her extended time away. Here is a short blog from Nicole about her wonderful winter in Europe!
A WONDERFUL WINTER IN EUROPE!
Who Went: Nicole Hughes, Financial Officer, with Husband Joseph, sons Zachary and Lachlan, and parents Barbara and Grahame
Where to: Eight countries in total including England, France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Dubai
Why: “Life experience for myself and my family. Also to experience a European White Christmas – the Christmas markets are amazing!”
What was seen: “Oh my goodness! What was seen…Buckingham Palace, Crown Jewels, Westminster Abbey, London Dungeons, Cotswolds, Eiffel Tower, Euro Disney, Palace of Versailles, Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Louvre, Catacombs, Colosseum, Vatican City, Prague Castle, Salt Mines, Auschwitz-Birkenau Death Camp, World’s Tallest Building and the list goes on!”
What was it like: “It was the most amazing experience and I was so lucky that I was able to share this with my family. We learnt so much about history and geography. Some highlights of the trip were, The Colosseum, this was immense, yep, its size sure does catch you by surprise! Auschwitz Death Camp was another highlight. When trying to describe Auschwitz it’s very hard to come up with the right words, but I’m very glad I’ve been, and I’d recommend everyone to go, although it is a difficult one. The most beautiful city was Prague!”
